LIFE Index-Air promoted a seminar about air quality at Secondary School Fernão Mendes (Almada, Portugal)
Within the framework of “Cientificamente Provável” programme, IST team member Nuno Canha presented a 90 minutes’ seminar at the secondary school Fernão Mendes, with the title “O ar é de todos – o quê, porquê e como?” (“The air belongs to everyone – what, why and how?”) for two classes of 10th year (with a total of 57 students and 3 teachers). The seminar occurred on 11th March 2019.
This seminar aimed to understand the importance of air quality, pollution sources and measures to improve indoor and outdoor air quality. A satisfaction survey was conducted to the seminar and the level of satisfaction of 49 individuals was between 98 and 100%.
The program “Cientificamente Provável” is a joint initiative of the Portuguese State Secretariat of Education through the School Libraries Network and the Portuguese State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher Education. It aims to intensify the promotion of knowledge and contribute to the enrichment of the training of young people by establishing closer links between higher education institutions and basic and secondary schools, through the intermediation of school libraries.
