]]> Nuno Canha http://www.lifeindexair.net/community/life-index-air-management-tool/life-index-air-tool-presentation-video-available/#post-6 Children’s exposure and dose assessment to particulate matter in Lisbon http://www.lifeindexair.net/community/main-forum/childrens-exposure-and-dose-assessment-to-particulate-matter-in-lisbon/#post-5 Wed, 09 Dec 2020 12:29:27 +0000 The article entitled "Children’s exposure and dose assessment to particulate matter in Lisbon" by Tiago Faria et al. was published early this year in the international scientific journal "Building Environment" and provided the first overview of the children exposure assessment to particulate matter, conducted within the framework of LIFE Index-Air project.

The main highligts of this study were:

  • Children spend more than 86% of their time indoors.
  • PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations in classrooms is significantly higher than in homes.
  • PM I/O ratios are higher in schools than in homes.
  • The classroom is the ME that mostly contributes to children exposure to PM.
  • Indoor MEs are the main contributors to the personal exposure and inhaled dose.

Tiago Faria is a PhD student that is developing its research in the framework of our project.
